I just watched a movie on Apple TV called “Palmer.” This is a movie about an ex-convict, named Palmer, played by Justin Timberlake who returns home after being released from prison. Little does he know that moving back in with his grandmother would bring him into a holy relationship with the young boy next door named Sam. Not just any young boy, Sam is just what Palmer needs to break through his tough exterior. This little boy is very feminine, plays with dolls, and is not trying to change who he is. Palmer is very resistant when this starts but the Spirit orchestrates everything for the greatest good.
I get what I need, not what I think I need, then I come to see that what I need is not only what I want it is what I have, then I come to want only what is.
—Byron Katie
With Sam’s uncompromising ways, direct communication, and huge heart Palmer starts to find purpose in his life. This purpose being a holy relationship. Holy Relationship is ultimately with everyone and everything, it is the expression of the holy instant in living in this world. Although we are given commitments to personal relationships with other people along the way to returning to this total commitment and communion with God. Try as we may to avoid it, but we cannot.
Whatever is destined not to happen will not happen, try how hard you may. Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to stop it. This is certain. The best course, therefore, is to remain silent
— Sri Ramana Maharshi
By surrendering and saying yes to the means, the Spirit arranges time and space to facilitate the healing and leads us away from pain.
What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good? ²Perhaps you have misunderstood His plan, for He would never offer pain to you. ³But your defenses did not let you see His loving blessing shine in every step you ever took. ⁴While you made plans for death, He led you gently to eternal life. (ACIM, W-135.18:1-4)
